Last time we told you about the three alphabets of Japanese
language. So it doesn’t like the English and Sinhala. Isn’t it? Because of
three alphabets, they have their own characteristics.
Okay, now let’s look at
the hiragana alphabet a little and learn its own characteristics.
We use hiragana alphabet to write the native Japanese words (Their
own words). Names of Japanese people, places are written in hiragana letters.
Okay, my dear friends, let’s look at few examples.
In Japanese language book is known as ‘Hon’ ほん
School is known as
‘Gakko’ がっこう
Child is known as ‘Kodomo’
こども
Umbrella is known as ‘Kasaa’
かさ
Chair is known as ‘Isu’
いす
Because all these words are their own words, they are written
in hiragana letters.
Now let’s look at some of their names.
Michiko ( みちこ ) , Hayashi ( はやし ) , Kimura ( きむら ) , Makino ( まきの )
Like above, names of Japanese people are written in hiragana
letters.
So this is only an introduction to hiragana alphabet. Later
we can learn about the letters of hiragana alphabet and how to use them to
write words correctly. For now I think this is enough as an introduction to
hiragana.
From next article, we are supposed to tell you about the
katakana alphabet.
